Oroville Hospital’s patients benefit from a large variety of surgical procedures available with the da Vinci robotic surgery system, which address many common gynecologic issues such as endometriosis and fibroid growth. Using minute incisions, our surgeons are able to complete complex surgical procedures with precision and minimal scarring or blood loss. Regain your health and strength with one of the following da Vinci surgical procedures:

Hysterectomy
Patients with abnormal uterine bleeding or benign or malignant uterine conditions may benefit from surgical removal of the uterus, a procedure known as a hysterectomy. Da Vinci hysterectomies are performed with just a few small incision sites or one single incision through the belly button. Da Vinci single-site hysterectomies are virtually scarless since only one small cut is made in the belly button. Based on a patient’s health history, our surgeons will determine the best method and approach for uterine removal.

Endometriosis Resection
When tissue grows abnormally outside the uterus, it can cause intense pain and discomfort for women. Patients with severe endometriosis may benefit from tissue resection using the da Vinci surgical system. With a few small incisions, surgeons can deftly remove excess tissue using the advanced capabilities and movements afforded by the surgical system while leaving the uterus and other organs intact. This procedure is often recommended for women who desire to become pregnant in the future.

Myomectomy
Fibroids are noncancerous growths that can develop in the wall of the uterus, causing heavy menstrual periods, abnormal bleeding, or pelvic or low back pain.  A myomectomy with the da Vinci robotic system can remove fibroids in the uterine wall with a few small incisions and minimal blood loss while keeping the uterus intact.

Sacrocolpopexy
A pelvic prolapse occurs when an organ such as the uterus or vagina slips out of its normal position. To correct its positioning, surgical mesh is inserted into the pelvic region through a procedure called sacrocolpopexy. This method has been greatly enhanced by the use of the da Vinci robotic system, which accomplishes permanent mesh placement and organ fixation through a few small incisions.
