Oroville Hospital welcomes new orthopedic surgeon Douglas Benson, MD. He will be joining Oroville Hospital’s Orthopedic Practice alongside Robert Ching, MD, Lowell Nickel, MD, and Brian Ching, MD. Dr. Benson is board certified and comes bearing over 30 
years of orthopedic surgery experience and is specialized in pelvic acetabular fixation. For the past 15 years he has studied and has a special interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques as well as a special interest in unexplained fractures in infants and young children.
Dr. Benson received his medical degree from Loma Linda University and continued his residency and fellowship in orthopedic surgery. He held his own private practice for over 20 years until he had to undergo a few orthopedic surgeries of his own. Once he recovered he closed his private practice and practiced orthopedic surgery for a few years in third world counties. Afterwards, he returned to Butte County and went into orthopedic trauma.
“I have known Robert Ching, MD for over 50 years and Brian Ching, MD since he was a baby. I have had the opportunity throughout my career to collaborate on multiple surgeries with Robert Ching. So when I received the invitation to come and work for Oroville Hospital and work alongside top-tier surgeons, I was delighted,” explained Dr. Benson on why he chose to work at Oroville Hospital.
