Dr. Stephen Baird is the lead outpatient neurological physical therapist at Golden Valley Rehabilitation. He is a Los Angeles native and attended California State University, Long Beach where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire. He relocated to Paradise in 2015 to begin working for Oroville Hospital. Since then, he has completed various licenses and certifications in order to provide more specialized therapy services to patients, including: Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery license, Stroke Rehabilitation certificate, credentialed Clinical Instructor with Neurological emphasis, and Lite Gait body weight supported weight training specialist. He typically treats patients seeking treatment for stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Corticobasal Degeneration, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, Functional Neurological Disorder.
Stephen believes the goals patients have outside of their treatment is what matters most and yields the best results. Keeping this in mind, he chooses to incorporate the unique lifestyle and interests of each patient into their treatment by choosing therapy activities that reflect their goals. Seeing patients reach milestones of recovery is what keeps Stephen passionate about his work.
Outside of work Stephen enjoys kayaking, particularly kayak lake fishing. He also enjoys spending time with his wife along the Northern California and Oregon coastlines.
