Qualifications:

  • Recent / previous work experience in acute care setting preferred
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity to patients, family and significant others of all ages
  • Demonstrates reliability and flexibility with work schedule
  • ·Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients and the public

Duties & 
Responsibilities: 

Job Summary

The Physician Assistant functions as a provider and coordinator of direct patient care. The Physician Assistant performs tasks and services under the direct control and supervision of a state-approved supervising physician in accordance with the mission, standards, policies, and practices of Oroville Hospital.

Duties

  • Performs Admission History and Physical and initiates appropriate admission order and/or order set
  • Examines admitted patients daily,  records results,  institutes  appropriate diagnostics and treatment
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, blood work, and interprets test results.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures, such as immunizations and injections.
  • Exercises professional judgment regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment.
  • Prescribes medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and clinic regulations.
  • Provides general health education regarding matters such as proper diet, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  • Assists physician, as required, for emergency treatment and procedures that are more complex.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Info: 

Lifting Requirements: Prolonged periods of standing and walking. Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 40 pounds, repositioning patients, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions.

Work area is well lighted and ventilated. Regularly exposed to the risks of blood borne and airborne diseases. Contact with patients in a wide variety of circumstances. Exposed to noise, chemicals, communicable diseases, and hazardous materials. Wears personal protective equipment as required.
