Job Summary

The Staffing Coordinator is directly accountable to the Assistant Director of Nursing and Director of Nursing (DN) to assist in scheduling nursing staff.  Provide general clerical support to Nursing. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Essential Functions

1.  Prepares daily nursing assignment sheets and arranges for coverage for open positions.

2. Prepares nursing monthly work schedule by the 20th of the preceding month and provides draft to the ADON and DNS for approval.

3. Monitors supply, copies and restocks forms at nurses’ station.

4. Maintains a Nursing Staff telephone list.

5. Manage the oxygen supplies of residents on a daily basis and change the date O2 supplies weekly as needed.

Other Duties

1. Answers phones as needed and assigned.

2. Assists at mealtime feeding residents as needed.

3. Types, mails and files letters, policies, and processes at supervisor’s request.

4. Serves on various committees as needed or assigned.

5. Other duties as assigned and appropriate to the position.

1. Knowledgeable in medical and nursing practices.

2. Requires computer skills at a level adequate to perform the job.

6. Working knowledge and ability to comply with Facility policies and processes for workplace safety, including infection control processes, application of universal precautions for bloodborne pathogens, use of personal protective equipment, and handling hazardous materials.

7. Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks/responsibilities, complete duties/projects within allotted time, and to respond to change productively and handle additional tasks/projects as assigned.

8. Exhibits leadership skills (visionary, competent, honest, and inspiring). Displays high energy for the job – an upbeat, positive “can-do” approach. Leads by example; willing to pitch in and do whatever is necessary to get the job done. Creative problem-solver with strong follow-through. Practices fair and effective delegation.
