Oroville Hospital Announces Psychiatry Residents


 

OROVILLE HOSPITAL ANNOUNCES PSYCHIATRY RESIDENTS

FOR THE 2025-2026 ACADEMIC YEAR

 

Oroville Hospital welcomes six PGY-1 and four PGY-2 physician trainees to their inaugural class of the Psychiatry Residency Program.

OROVILLE, Calif., April 3, 2025 – Oroville Hospital is proud to introduce the ten residents selected for the inaugural class of its Psychiatry Residency Program. Starting in July, these residents will embark on their postgraduate training to become accomplished psychiatrists, building a legacy of excellence that will transform mental healthcare in Butte County.

After a rigorous selection process that involved reviewing over 350 applications and conducting more than 80 interviews, Oroville Hospital is pleased to announce the residents selected for the academic year.

PGY-1 Residents: Entering their first year of training post medical school, these residents will focus on developing foundational knowledge and skills.

PGY-2 Residents: These residents are progressing into their second year of post-graduate training, refining their expertise in specialized areas and expanding their responsibilities.

Our Psychiatry Residency Program reflects the hospital’s dedication to excellence in medical education and patient care, as well as its commitment to advancing Butte County’s healthcare landscape.”

Oroville Hospital’s program is designed to cultivate future leaders in healthcare, emphasizing communication, clinical research, specialized expertise, and compassionate patient care. The curriculum provides residents with comprehensive training in areas such as Neurology, Inpatient and Outpatient Psychiatry, Geriatric Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Consultation/Liaison Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Emergency Psychiatry, and Community Psychiatry. This robust preparation equips them to thrive professionally while strengthening local healthcare services.

The hospital achieved sponsoring institution accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in June 2023, with Psychiatry Residency Program accreditation following in May 2024. Additionally, February marked the establishment of the Maguire Neuropsychiatric Institute, a center focused on excellence in neuropsychiatric patient care, clinical research, and medical education for the Butte County community and surrounding areas.
